A mysterious, unknown face---but it's beautiful and bold, all the same. Her eyes are hidden, but we can still feel some of her "essence"---and it's a bright and very positive essence.

Here, you've almost painted a "cutout" painting. (Découpe? Like Matisse's papiers découpés, oui?) But you use such bright and uplifting hues. I love the purple against the amber-orange. And the small areas of red. And I love how you "continue" her hairline into a moon (!!). And how minimally you paint her chair---it's a series of simple lines and shapes, no more. The shapes sit against a sea of black. So very classy.

And the chair base---the pedestal---is two simple lines, one of which crosses her minimalist foot, in a beautiful contrast. A beautiful cross of lines...

She faces us directly, which is very bold. She is also very confident. So while she is "hidden" (via her eyes), she faces us boldly and without any fear. You paint privacy with confidence, and curiosity with strength, masterfully, Yves. A wonderful visual "puzzle," with beautiful simple hues, and a masterful use of black. And---once again---you give us those "deckled edges". I really like that; you gave me a big smile when you started doing that recently. I worked with big beautiful art papers, years ago; and I did my own deckling; so I have a special love for that. A beautiful portrait once more...
