Description

A somewhat literal interpretation of the machines that have helped shape popular music since the 1980s. I certainly wasn't going to render a classic 808 so here is an anthropomorphized robot playing the drums. Post-processing in GMP and Lo-Fi. Enjoy!

Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and comments. The old Roland TR-808 was one of the first drum machines to be widely used in popular music and - back in the 1980s - was often criticized by working musicians for its metronomic-like rigidity. Year later, the sounds from that machine are literally all over the place in electronica and the machine has literally come to life. That's what I was thinking of when I made this render.
