the truck hit the signal lights so hard that the signal parts were thrown about 150 feet away. if someone had been walking there, it could have meant a fatality

Oh, MAN! I hope nobody was hurt! And, what caused it? Here in Sweden I've seen several close calls due to text phoning while driving. I wonder when parliament will pass a law forbidding this? You were at the right place at the right time to get the photo. Wow, that cab is big, and looks almost undamaged. I wonder how it went for the rest of the truck. Did you get any more photos of this? Would be interesting to see them. Keep up the good work! :-)

Why in the world would he be driving with the bed up?? I guess he was in a hurry and forgot but that seems like a pretty obvious thing to notice.

Similar thing happened at a highway intersection about 4 miles from my home a few years ago, There was a malfunction with the hydraulics on a boom truck and the boom raised during travel without the driver being aware until he took out a set of lights, Luckily there was no one hurt in that mishap either and there was far less damage than what you show here because he had stopped for a red and the accident happened when he was pulling away on the green light!.

What a shot, Richard! Wow!

He must have been moving along at a good clip to fling the signal that far. That would have been nasty indeed!

Wow!.. great shot you got here of the truck... not only the paying for the damages are going to hurt but the damage to the truck by this, and it looks pretty new... guess he'll be looking for a new job.

Amazing. If texting/making a call is involved, the fallout from this will be significant.
