I love when you put textures into your paintings. You have these complex organic forms in the background, and they're 'eating into' the woman's dress. It's almost like fractal forms. More accurately, they're natural 'map' forms (cartographique). And you've used 2 shades of gray, as well as black. You've painted this woman as a proud, even defiant person---shameless---as she stares at us with just a little interest (but not too much). You painted her jewelry beautifully, with flares everywhere...And I love the way you painted pink and flesh tones on her face and body: You left some areas white. Again, that's your innate 'design-sense'. (Is there a good French word for that? "Sens inné de la mode" is ok...or "instinct pour la mode"---but that's about fashion, I think. "Design sense" is about design of every kind. And you have the latter, as well as the former.)
Love her posture---she sways to our right almost with arrogance. And you cut her off with a swift diagonal line, on the bottom. Beautifully designed, Yves. You convey your title effortlessly, and beautifully. Deft, very smart art.
