Description

Taken at the Duxford Battle Of Britain Airshow, 2015, this was the very curtailed display of the Syncho Pair.. Both aircraft are flying out of RAF Coningsby and the Spitfire is an RAF aircraft as well.. The Typhoon FRG4 is from 29(R) Squadron and (though unfortunately you cannot see it from this shot), is painted in the scheme of a 249 Squadron aircraft flown by Flt Lt Nicholson, the only Fighter Command Pilot to be awarded the VC. I'll try find a better shot of the Camo Typhoon, unfortunately despite restrictions to flight angles etc an idiot was killed gazing at aircraft over Duxford and this display was halted.. (No comment). Typhoon speed max : 1.8, Spitfire Max : 445 mph. Rob

Love and many thanks for this great photo

Have you any idea how they flew at the same speed

Normally, the Spitfire is flying at 'Max' speed allowed now, around 280mph.. the Typhoon spends the entire 10-15 show on max afterburner and HUGE amounts of flaps etc! Yes, its on the edge all the time. The noise level is off the scale... Rob

Awesome!! This is a kick-arse shot, Rob! I'm amazed the Typhoon could fly slow enough to hang with the Spit - but what an amazing flyover it made!

Gazing at the aircraft, and hit a lorry on his motorbike.....Good grief..... Stupidity knows no bounds....

I bet the jet had to fly just above stall speed. Great pic.

Hi Rob! Sorry I missed this! Great shot! Looks like the Spit is out flying the Typhoon! You've done a nice job tracking them, as the details are quite clear. I assume the Typhoon is at a somewhat higher altitude than the Spit for safety's sake (I'm thinking turbulence). Otherwise, the Spit seems to be almost as big as the Typhoon! Too bad for human stupidity. He should have stopped his motorbike instead of not looking where he was going. But some left-liberal jack-ass will always find an excuse for harassing others for "causing" a problem instead of the culprit.

Now, off you go, dig up some more cool photos! Am looking forward to them! Keep up the good work! :-)

Gee, do I have to rate something that's this good? Well, I already have.
