Description

He gang. Its been a stretch since my last login. I caught this woodpecker on our feeder as the sun was coming up one day. I struggle with focus with these. The beak is not sharp and I am curious if the F 5.6 is not the way to go here... perhaps closing it down some? Anyway, thank you and a happy weekend to all! :)

I don't think it's the f-stop, I think it's the shutter speed. At 1/200, if the bird moves, you're going to get a little blur. It's not very noticeable at all, and since the bird WAS moving it's certainly okay with me if his beak shows that movement in the photograph, but if you want a super-sharp shot, you have to go above ... oh ... maybe 1/500 or 1/640 or something, and compensate with your f-stop and your ISO. Just my two cents ... and it has nothing to do with the quality of this fine picture!

Its a superb looking shot , I do however agree with auntietk that its the shutter speed thats the issue not the f-stop birds are always on the move and you do need a higher shutter speed if you want everything sharp a 1/500 would indeed I think be a good starting point though Im always finding the light conspires against me! LOL
