Description

Everything feels like it it's happening at once, it all started with the king ordering my death and from that moment on its been a non stop battle for survival. I have cut down and beheaded countless skeletons by this point, I'm not sure how long I have been at this, but it feels like forever. I originally estimated around one hundred skeletons, I think the actual count might be double that. The thousands of bones now laying around the room are becoming an obstacle, not only do I have fight for my life, but now I have to watch where I step as well. Exhaustion is setting in, my limbs are becoming less responsive and holding up my sword at this point is excruciating. My muscles are fatigued and I don't think I can hold out much longer. No matter how many skeletons I dismember, it just seems three more take its place...I can't win this. "Damn!" Up ahead I see the death knight, he is waiting for me. I should have focused on finding him and the other armored skeleton first, I might have stood a chance when my body was still fresh. Now with being as tired as I am I don't see this ending well. Something catches my eye, I spin to see the other knight circling around behind me, they're attempting to surround me. "Prepare to die mortal." Calls the death knight now directly in front of me. I know as soon as the other knight joins the battle it's as good as over, my only chance is taking out the death knight quickly. But how? His armor looks impressive and his axes are most certainly lethal. Damn my body, it just won't respond the way I need it to. The death knight swings his axe in a vicious upward arc hoping to catch my jaw, luckily I anticipated the move just in time, barely evading what was sure to be a killing blow. He follows up with an attack to my chest, I get my sword up to block the blow but the force behind the attack is incredible! He has strength beyond any skeleton I have ever faced before, this complicates matters further. The other knight is almost behind me now, if I'm going to do anything it has be now. I reach down and pull the Lightning dirk from my boot, I haven't used it yet but considering I took from Crete's tomb I'm betting it's something special. I leap into the air away from the death knight rotating my body towards the the rear knight. My muscles scream in agony but comply allowing me to throw the dirk. What happens next is difficult to describe, but no sooner does the blade "thud" into the chest of the knight it then reappears in my hand ready to be thrown again and that is precisely what I do. In fact in the time it would have taken to throw two blades I have thrown this one six times! As the blade reappears in my hand this last time the charging knight topples face first and skids across the stone floor. "I see why you're called a lightning dirk." I say to myself softly. But the moment of satisfaction fades quickly as I remember the death knight. I duck instinctively as an axe just about takes my head off. He's to close to throw the dirk at so I'm back to using my sword. Our blades collide several times and I'm barely able to with stand the force behind his blows. Fortunately it only takes about a minute before I realize he favors his right side, if I can block his blows for a few more seconds I should be able to maneuver him into a indefensible position. This proves more difficult than I imagined, this skeleton is highly skilled but with persistence I manage to get him into position. "Your done!" I shout at the death knight. He tilts his head in confusion but attacks just as I knew he would, I side step his attack and drive my sword up through his rib cage. My blade tip exits out through his opposite collar and with it charged by my special ability I have no trouble in ripping him in two. I watch as the glow in his eyes extinguish and his body falls lifelessly to the floor. Unfortunately my legs give out and I drop to the floor as well, my body is spent. I hear the skeletons begin surrounding me and know one of them certainly the king, I'm just to tired to look up, I'm to tired to care at this point. I fought well, but ultimately I failed.
