Another photo from a small cemetery in New Mexico. One of the things I found appealing was how the colorful flowers brightened up what is usually a very somber setting...

Flowers are really beautiful and cheery and they brighten not only objects, but spirits as well (and I was not actually referring to the spirits of the dead with that remark :).

Most of the cemeteries in south Texas are decorated with colorful displays of flowers, both real and artificial, as well as flags and toys and everything you might think of that would be small and pretty. It's a lovely tradition!
