This has a very 1950's, 1960's free feeling. You have such fast-drawn outlines, such free cross-hatch (in the woman's coat), a free-swinging purse, and so on. The bridge is wonderfully 'sketched'---I know this is all painted, and with your usual panache: Vut it has the feeling of an intuitive sketch, drawn as fast as thought itself. I love the quick broad strokes of the bridge and the water. And your tilted Eiffel Tower, also painted quickly and energetically. And the woman looks at us quickly, smiling a bit, her hair flying and scraggly (en bataille, oui?)...everything is spontaneous and free...and your green and brown are terrific against all these whites, blacks and blue-grays. I also like how you outlined her legs in white outlines. And how they're so tall and slender. Beautifully done, and perfect for Steve. When you go 'free' like this, it's as if you 'blew" the art onto the paper or canvas. It's marvelous.
