A very beautiful capture with fabulous lighting. The bird looks very secretive as he searches for food in the shadows. It is so hard to keep up with all the comments and to concentrate on making new art too. ☺

Very cool shot, Mark! I think the bird is thinking "What idiot left this bottle here?"

Thanks for all your wonderful and insightful comments, buddy! I'm playing catch-up, too... Seems I'm always behind these days. Sooo much going on...

Just a bird seeking food, does not seem to mind your presence, Mark. Awesome TOD capture. That lighting and shadowing really sets the mood. Nice old pic capture.

Oh no, much more than just a bird. This looks like a Wood Stork which is endangered so your capture is quite lucky. With its head in shadow the eye is drawn to the sky and clouds and sun reflected in the water. The ripples and the sheen in the water compete with the reflected sky. Even the bottle can be seen as a commentary on our effects on nature. A really nice well constructed shot.

What I like most about this shot is the way the reflected sky occupies the space in the image that a sky would normal occupy - so that it sort of serves double duty as both sky & water. I guess the bottle could be seen as an environmental statement, but I prefer to think of it as containing a long distance message from someone marooned on a faraway tropical island...

Well, the comments traveled all the way down to wysiwig before anyone ventured a guess as to what species of bird that is. I'm glad I didn't have to guess what it was. And, what a snout on that waterfowl! It could easily poke holes into metal food containers for sustenance. That said, crackerjack contrasts, lighting, reflections, ripples, textures, and silhouetting in this old Florida foto, Mark. Surprising quality for a camera that was just one step above a Brownie.

Sad to see the damage to this poor creatures environment.

WOW! Looks like the bird is walking in the sky. AHA! A sky walker :-) I just love this shot. The mood in it is so peaceful and I find the reflections of the sky stunning. And you took this shot with your old 2MP camera. WOW! I am impressed. I said you were born to take photos and I was right :)

Oh my this is so special with mood, light, details, as textures, Mark. That bottle, and the reflections of clouds, it makes one can watch this photo for ours, and it would also great to make a painting from that. So much inspiration that would stimulate many artist to do so! 😄

Fabulous capture Mark, with all the bitz 'n' pieces - (as mentioned by everyone above) it makes a fine composition... message in the bottle ? maybe not, but let's dream it is so ! Actually this bird reminds me very much of our Ibises... except the beak is not quite as straight, more rounded, I'd say. But then again I am no expert on birds, just guessing...

PS - a little correction on your comment at one of Mark (wysiwig's) uploads, those were not Mangoes but Avocadoes in the wheelbarrow, how do I know ? you may well ask !, because I do grow both of them in my garden - LOL - no worries or no panic now ! 😋

Lol---thank you, B! Shows you how bad I am at naming things that grow out of the ground! (Ie, flowers, trees, fruits.) I'm glad I at least got that they were plant-life. Living on the 27th floor of a highrise, I don't grow a lot of edibles, as you might imagine!

I like the different textures in the water. Smooth sky, ripples around the bird's legs, mottled around the grass and algae. Those differences give the image interest and movement, and make me feel like I'm right there. I remember when you took that trip to Florida with that little camera, and all the shots you sent back. What a fun experience it was to see your pictures hot off the press! :)
