Description

The village of Bruniquel (Tarn-et-Garonne, France) has two castles, an "Old castle" and a "New castle." The two castles are situated on a rocky peak, 90 meters on a cliff on the banks of the Aveyron. On the ruins of a previous castle (6th century) was built the current "Old castle" in the 13th century. It was the property of the counts of Toulouse. The "New Castle" (on the right of the photo) was built in the late 15th century for another branch of the family of the counts of Comminges. For three centuries, the two branches were not going to stop quarreling, the owners of the "Old Castle" being catholic and those of the "New Castle" protestants! (wikipedia)

A fine shot. I've never been to this particular place, but it reminds me of other locations I've visited in France with structures built on rocky hilltops - a very typical French scene & captured very well...

The history of France has so many diversity that we could go back until the year 0. Catholics and their crusaders seemed to hide even the chalice somewhere in the south of France has been told. Sometimes seeing all these castles in your country, I think France was divided by the king, for keeping his court enjoyable and so France got all these beautiful castles. Love to see this all.

J'ADORE !!!
