Hi - not sure how useful below is but incase of interest.
Toolset - PoserPro11, Substance Painter/Designer,Zbrush,Gimp and a bit of vue. Miopic photos come from a RX100 or an old D300
Thirdy party resources I use - These are free and worth a look if not already on your list - HDRI maps - https://hdrihaven.com Textures - https://www.textures.com/ (used to be cgtextures.com)
If you like the lighting in my renders its worth checking out hdrihaven as they have a high EV range and don't always require additional lighting (see http://blog.gregzaal.com/2016/03/16/make-your-own-hdri/ for more details on how they differ from standard hdr).
Workflow - export model from Poser into Substance Painter and build PBR maps. Export PBR maps and build mats in Poser (via Script). For lighting use HDRI map set-up on BB's envsphere or Poser standard ground plan. Iterate and tweak lighting and mats to get desired mood/effect. After render load png into GIMP and use layers to adjust contrast and colours.

your simile extends the imagination into realms that I'm not sure we need to delve into.....
she looks by far better than any haggis I've ever seen.

I have substance painter, but haven't really yanked it up yet, does it mess up uv's in general, or just poser uv's? (I kinda like that oily look btw, and haggis just sounds strange, what do you do with it??)
