Description

Sorry my friends, I have not been able to view or comment on your wonderful renders as I have been in hospital....All ok now so I will try to view them asap. The above is a comparison between Daz 3Delight & iray render engines. As you can see there is a vast difference in look & render time. Do you have a preference?...Any comments, good or bad are welcome

My preference is the render on the left! It shows off the colors better and has more feel to it in my opinion. The one on the right just looks too bleached out. I sorry to hear about your hospitalization! I am glad you are out and recovering! Hope it wasn't too serious! I know from my own experience, having just turned 67, that the old clock is ticking! Well, nuff said on that topic! Hope you are feeling well and still enjoying life! Take care and keep those great looking guys appearing in your gallery here!

Hi Roco, first of all recover well. As to the render, the IRAY version seems to be flatter than the 3delight. As I only render in IRAY and you know my renders generally have dense colours, I can only imagine that dealing with IRAY is still a bit uncommon to you. For satisfactory results with IRAY it is nesseray in my eyes to first set up the scene and then do major lighting setups in the IRAY render settings. Very important is to decide in the tab if you want to use Sky dome or sun or none of it. I mostly switch all off and only do lighting by meshlights. You will at once find the difference. If you want more detailed advice, let me know. IRAY renders always take longer time than 3delight due to the different render concept. My renders take (the settings I use are quality 5 and 21000 sec. rendertime that is about 4 hours) between 1 and 3 hours generally.

Certainly Iray is more photorealistic but the basic light use like spot are better to be used in 3Delight ( is possible that is because I am not able )

I think if you Hergens Council accept, you will accomplish great things. I must admit that I do not have to use the slow iray at a HDRI scene to get decent render results. I use basically 3Delight I'm not particularly well with Iray. Wonderfully Made, Roco!

I am glad you are recovered, Roco. I like the 3delight in this case, as every one has mentioned, the colors are richer but having figured out Iray, with the help of the good people in this group, I enjoy the finish product more. The lighting is much trickier since it is based on real light, usually I set something to render before I go to sleep, back lighting is important to add depth. Hilmarion is a master so I am trying to learn from his works. I do know you have to alter your textures as well, especially skin, they do not render the same in Iray as 3delight. I work with darker skin tones and for a while the results I was getting were so poor I didn't want to post anything at all. Keep up the good work, I know you will be on top of the new render engine. Glad to have you back.

Dear Roco, I love them both but the one on the left looks better, in my opinion. The one on the right looks too washed out. I guess it all boils down to, which look you are trying to accomplish? I hope you are well on your way to recovery and hope you can stay out of the hospital! I was in the hospital twice last summer and it was awful. I don't care to go back there! They saved my life each time so I guess I am not finished yet! Take care and happy creating/rendering, my friend!

great picture. I'm glad that you're recovering. The render on the left is better IMHO.
