Description
After visiting several of the galleries on Canyon Road, my friend & I continued walking in the adjoining residential neighborhoods & found the southwestern architecture there just as fascinating. I believe this doorway represents some form of Native American symbolism or mythology, but I don't know the specifics. I was struck by the strange headgear, which look like something a space alien might wear...

You have made a great photo: I never seem to get this result with random pics of my neighbours properties.

A beautiful inviting doorway. 😀

Very interesting shot. Santa Fe is most art oriented and colorful. My brother has lived there for decades.

Yes, with snowcrow1, those definitely look like Kachina figures. And the headgear may just be the shape of some Kachina figures' heads (ie, no headgear per se). They do look like space helmets, though, something from old sci fi movies. As for the pic, I agree with Andrea, it's a wonderful photo. (One reason she may not get this kind of photo is that there is probably nothing like this where she lives, lol. I mean, if this were next door to her, I'd flip out! Or next door to me!) More of your intense hues, these being on the pale orange side. And I love the dark shadow in the doorway (bottom). and the light on the lintel. And (again) the high key light in the sky, as contrast to all the sand oranges and darker hues below. Plus your composition moves us to the door-peak, from left to right. Beautiful shot, Claude.
