Description
Blue Funnel Lines M.V. `Helenus` 10,215 grt completed by H&W Belfast on 29th October 1949. She had capacity for 31 passengers. She was sold for breaking at Kaohsiung on 11th July 1978. She was the first of four steam turbine "H" boats to be built.

Thanks for all the photos! Good shot inside the museum, despite the glare from all the ceiling lights. What a lot of work constructing a ship like this, and then scrapping it after only 29 years of service! On the other hand, combined passenger - freight ships didn't make much of a profit, so I assume getting the price for her as scrap metal was more lucrative (sadly). More ship photos, if you have them! :-)

whenever I visit the coast of Louisiana there are always ships being dismantled for scrap. other are sank out at sea for sea life to make a home in after all the pollutants are removed.
