Description
With thanks to Mike (Faemike55), who was inspired by wolfenshire.
They posted very early pieces of theirs, on top of newer pieces. I loved the idea, so I tried the same.
The top is one an old watercolor, pre RR.
The bottom is my last decent drawing of a flower (in pencil).
I know I'm hard on myself, but that flower looks more like folded fabric to me. I really struggled with it.
It was for one of Denise's birthdays (MrsRatbag).
I apologized to her, because I really thought it looked like silk; but at least I put a lot of time into it.
Anyway, just wanted to join the challenge!
I'm getting closer to commenting on you all---I'm getting there!
Have a great Tuesday, and thanks again for your wonderful comments and visits, everyone,

both images are wicked an cool. the upper (older) is a wonderful example of impressionistic water colours whereas the lower (newer) image shows a level of detail that crosses some boundaries and lends itself to another appearance, in this case, silk. You've done a lot in the art world and it shows. I always look forward to your uploads because you always surprise me with your work. Eclectic and beautiful.

Both delicious images !!

Both of these are very lovely, Mark! I'm going to have to take a long stroll through your gallery, my friend.
And I'm going to have to give this challenge a try - I'll go back and see what my first image was...

I like the pencil drawing because I too struggle with flowers, they don't like me doing cartoons of them.

Normally I have trouble commenting on something after you have done it because you are usually so thorough. This time it was Mike. What I was GOING to say was that your first image had a wonderful flow to it much like the expressionists. While the second image may not be as flowery as you would have liked there is some fine modeling in it. Or something like that.

Really like both old and new, Mark. Thanks for sharing your inspirational work.

I love both. The first for the graceful way you painted and for the colors. The rose. Mark, some roses have these folded or rolled edges, which gives very sharp corners. I think it was what you were drawing and if so, it is mighty well done in my opinion. :) Great idea BTW :-) AND Drawing roses is one of the things, I havent had courage enough to draw.

I like both images, the simplicity of the top one is very beautiful and then the detail in the rose is fabulous, it does look like silk. I look back on some of my early stuff and can't believe I did it let alone remember how I did it lol. 😀

Excellent work on both of them. I love the bright colors and openness of the early one. The rose is very well done and they are not an easy subject.
Wolfenshire Online Now!
Both are fantastic works of art. I love the impressionistic feel of them both.

All the above, plus I really like the dappled watercolor effect of the top posting, and the bottom rose, done in pencil, makes me think of some bats huddled closely together for warmth and a snooze, in direct contrast to their usual habit of individually hanging upside down in a cave. Or maybe they're just having a secret confab and do not want any outside disturbance to distract them. Oh well, a rose done in any medium is still a rose. In any event, a good bit of work to feature the new contrasted against the old, Mark.

Both are incredible, Mark:) in both you put time, of course:) and love. Art is love and you did Art:) In the watercolor you played with light and real colors in a playful and carefree way, it seems...and is a wonder. But a ROSE, has always it's own magic, there is a kind of mistery in her. Not easy....Well, Mark:) You did that!! this rose emerges from a white sheet, imposing ! and you gave to it a fabulous light and played with millions of tones and shades and blended them and this rose has a special presence! Sobriety but much delicacy also! There is much subtlety in this drawing, and YES:) it feels like silk!

hahaha look like we all posting stuff from the past . this is good work

I've seen both before, of course, and every time I'm struck by how much talent you have! The watercolor has everything a watercolor should have ... blended colors, a soft, floaty feeling, elegance, and grace. The pencil rose is magnificent! It has such depth, such richness, I can almost see the color. Thanks for posting these!

Excellent both accomplishments, but I find that the second is much more realistic
