Description

View is from the Douglas C-47D 'Skytrain' the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" operated by the Yankee Air Museum. A 1/2 hr flight on this 'Gooney Bird' cost $225,-, cheaper than a ride on a B-17 and much cheaper than a ride on a B-29. Since we had a 'buddy pass' for our round trip from Phoenix-Boston-Philadelphia it wasn't too bad. Our flight was scheduled for 10:00, then it was moved to 12:00, moved to 14:00 and finally to 16:00, all due to the weather conditions. I was outside in my back yard yesterday when I heard the exhaust of a vintage plane. I was going to run for my camera but realized my keys were in the building door lock. I knew I would not have time so I just enjoyed hearing sweet notes of the engines of a Douglas C-47D 'Skytrain'.

I would love to ride one. I walked around in one at Midland Odessa Museum, but it was dark and no flash with me.
