Description
A cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde National Park. This one (for what I think should be obvious reasons) is not accessible to the public. I took this photo from a fairly good distance away across a wide canyon. The ancient people who lived here could only access these dwellings through rock climbing or via ropes. I find it hard to imagine the perilous climb that they had to endure just to return to their home on a regular basis...

Beautiful photo. Interesting colors and textures. I wonder - dwellings? Or storage? Either way, a dangerous and tiring ascent. But the descent must be every bit as arduous and possibly more dangerous. Glad to see all these photos from the abodes. Keep up the good work! :-)

I remember that place. The bright sunlight and deep shadows made photography challenging! We made friends with another couple who were taking pictures there, bonding over the difficult conditions. ("What settings are you using?" etc.) I like what you did to balance the light!

They certainly wouldn't be going to the supermarket very often lol. A beautiful capture. 😀

The must have felt very threatened by something to risk living in such a dangerous place as a 'safe' alternative.
