Description

Bombus terrestris. The Buff tail bumbles nesting in my lawn are exceptionally busy at certain times of day. The comings and goings are continuous and fascinating to watch They are also a tremendous challenge to catch with a hand held point and shoot camera, but I will not be defeated! I of course realise that these results are very inferior to those possible to get on a bigger camera, but I'm just pleased to get anything!

Very good job catching these. When they're busy they can't be still a second. Good luck with more photos of these fellows! :-) PS - ever try to put out a lump of slightly wet sugar near their hole? Se if it attracts them? Should give you a lot of good photo opportunities!
