Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Wonderful capture, Andrea! Interesting narrative and history - it's amazing what can happen if nature is left to itself - It gets better, by golly!
what can't others see that?

My goodness. Who could object to cows? A nearby farm keeps Belted Galloways, and it's always a pleasure to see them. I'm a small-town woman though, and am used to livestock. Perhaps if I were from the city, I would be a bit more nonplussed.

Two benefits you forgot to list. They naturally fertilize the area and they provide children with the opportunity to see actual animals. When I was a child I had to go on a field trip to see cows. They photograph very well.

It will work where you are Andrea. In south Africa they might just be stolen or slaughtered , just like ,most of South Africa is torched daily. With the recent uprise of protest due to the fact that my black brothers and citizens of Pretoria was not satisfied with the new mayor that was nominated by the African National Congress all around Pretoria were protests, busses were burned,Tyre s were burnt, Road was filled with rocks, stones and bricks and rubble and the majority of shops was looted. It also came out in the newspapers that the police was instructed to protect goverment buildings and houses and one of the newspapers bosses was even warned by the minister of intelligence not to publish a document with this information. I tell every here that the South Africa of today is not my South Africa any more . I do not fell comfortable to be a citizen of South Africa. More of what i mention i predict and see will happen more in more here in South Africa. How can it be different with a president and ANC Member covering for a crook who already failed with two court applications of his corruption charges to be dropped, not even talking about the millions that was spend on his Nkandla that he must pay back of which treasury worked out that he only need to pay back 88% Just over Seven million rand.I tell you i just want to move, but where do i go. May our Lord Jesus Christ guide and protect all its citizens. God bless.

We have cows on the country park, they have calves so we have to be careful.
