Description
Every year at this time a host of weird and wacky people descend on my home town for the Hat Fair - three days of street theatre events which are spread all over the town (often going through the town as well). Here are two photos from today of a group with an ecological message about pollution. The general message was that we're polluting the air and over-exploiting the Earth's resources and these people have come back to us from a future in which the Earth is completely dead to plead with us to stop before it's too late. The person in the space suit was lifted up and down and also rotated through 360 degrees!

I love your photo Caroline! It reminded me of the things you see at the Space Center here. That group put a lot of time and elbow grease in their creation and their message. You definitely don't see anything like that everyday on a street in your town. This definitely fits into the unusual subject category. Do they give a prize to the person or group with the best display or scene?

EEK! A peeping Tom looking in at my bath room window! Where's my shot gun? Man, this gave me a laugh. NOT something one would expect on a city street! Interesting with the dirty grey color. Keep up the good work! :-)

Hi Dee, I don't think they get any prizes. Many of them are professional entertainers and some have come from other countries as well. The Hat Fair has been running in its present incarnation since 1974, but it's based on a much older tradition of fairs and street entertainers.
