Great shadows and lights on this fantastic picture !!!

In June if you took this photo at 9:47 am there would be no shadows on the sidewalk from the trees. Also by the amount of available parking, I suspect this shot was taken on a weekend. You captured an accurate perspective of your street.

A very nice street scene with a lovely sun reflection :)

I've owed you a note to see how you are, and let you know that I haven't dropped off the side of the earth...I'm not getting surgery (thank god), but have been working very hard once more, and have been exhausted at the ends of the days. But for 2 individual pictures, you've been the only gallery I've commented on since leaving, and it's been too long a time away. I'm just doing one here tonight, but I hope to be back for a longer session soon. I picked this because it's one of my favorite themes of yours, these long street shots with bathing, almost-obliterating light (flaring on the cars); and almost no activity otherwise. Your son was right---this was a weekend. (I looked it up, lol.) But actually, I'd have expected a little more activity for a Saturday morning. The almost silvery tone makes it a bit apocalyptic, and the strong light---I suspect as much from your expressive postwork as from the light itself---makes great dapples all over the sidewalk. It also makes great drama of the cars, with their blaring light and deep shadows. These street shots are very musical, showing that even sameness and repetition can be symphonic. Terrific work, Harry...I've seen everything (including a great wrecked car---yesterday?---man, I'm not sure I'd want to display that in my driveway! amazing detail on those shots), but I'll comment more soon. Hope life is treating you well, and that July in LA isn't like Dante's Inferno. More soon...

It looks hot, very hot, too hot for me to be able to live there...probably why I moved away 40-odd years ago! Great shot, Harry!
