Description

Special Notes: So, I explained that the First Eggs were being changed to the White Ravens, but of course there needed to be a better back story for the White Ravens, and why the Ravens do what they do. Windigo made an excellent suggestion, which in my fashion I twisted into the properly evil story that fits with the brutality of the Ravens. The Strigi Long ago there was a peaceful race of Daraians. They traveled from town to town, reading fortunes, divining the cards, reading the ruins, and curing all manner of disease, such as the pox, the wiggles, clouded sight, the side sickness, and other such things. You could purchase a tonic to cure the limp, or make someone fall in love with you, or even curse your neighbors cows. These fair skinned and often white haired sorcerers, witches, and necromancers, were known as the Strigi. People would travel miles to obtain their tonics and potions, mystic wisdom, and ancient knowledge. In time a horrifying custom rose and the Strigi were hunted, believing that to sacrifice one to the Gods and Goddesses brought great fortunes. It was believed that the Strigi children made the purest sacrifices and pleased the Gods the most. The race of Strigi soon reached the risk of becoming extinct. With no further Strigi children to be sacrificed, a new custom grew. The first egg a Raven female produced would be placed with the few remaining captive Strigi. This practice was considered sufficient to produce the needed sacrifices for the Gods. These hybrid Strigi children were called the White Ravens. They would be clothed in the snow-white garments of the Strigi, and raised in protected luxury. On their twelfth hatching day the White Ravens would be taken to the forest and hunted as the sacrificia. This practice exists even today on Darai.

Wonderful image, seems the hunt is on, hope it is more like hide and seek!

Of course being a Windigo and reveling in the chase and capture of souls I find the Strigi a fascinating race! I will join the pursuit at these sacrifices and will now lend equal weight to the acquisition of both Black Raven and White Raven shadowling fodder, Lol. So happy to be of assistance in some small way :)

When religion goes bad, and the customs and rituals become the end rather than the means. Yikes!
