Description
Time for lunch!
Actually, Cuban pizza is closer to a cracker with tomato sauce on it than it is to real pizza. But as someone once said, pizza is like sex. When its good its very good. And when its bad, well, its still pretty good.

Curious whether you've seen changes since They've opened their doors to Americans.

The average Cuban seems relatively unaffected by tourism. While the U.S. is the big dog worldwide, Cuba has had a thriving tourist industry for decades with most coming from Europe. We did visit tourist attractions like Hemingway's house and there are any number of high end hotels co-owned by international hotel chains and the Cuban government but the only place we visited that was dedicated to tourists was the resort we stayed at for the last two days of our stay. It was set up as an ocean front village.

Those SOCKS and the shoe shine boy and his ancient seat are what grab me. Marvellous.

I love what Andrea closed-in on. I'm getting repetitious, but this is another monumental street piece, Mark, with a lonnnng diagonal line from left to right, all that wonderful wall-detail (and such strong contrasts), the few people in total immersion in whatever they're doing. And those SOCKS (yes), and those great bold-colored crates, and, in the middle of it all: a little pizzeria. A terrific shot. You even included the roof tiles. Even the painting of that pizza chef fits into the bold colors and shapes here. Man, this needs to be seen full size. It's terrific!
(Btw, at my age---67---I eat one slice of pizza? Pardon me, but I don't take a s*** for 6 weeks. My bowels pack their bags and head south. I can't eat it anymore. I'm gettin' old! From what you say, Cuban pizza may be a lot kinder to my system than regular.) (Oh, and we have "Chicago" pizza, which is deep dish. Sicilian. A slice of that, you lose consciousness for 3 weeks...This is a great shot.)

While one is waiting for their order to be cooked, one can always have their shoes polished, what a nifty idea ! very enterprising indeed and you captured everything here in the minutest details... everyone appears to be busy doing something, oblivious to the rest of the world - but totally relaxed, way to go !
