Description
Captured 6/5/16 @ 12:08 pm, at the beautiful Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance held on the beautiful grounds of the Huntington Beach Central Park in beautiful Huntington Beach, California.
The Willys was a line of automobiles produced by Willys-Overland Motors from 1937 to 1942, either as a sedan, coupe, station wagon or pickup truck. The coupe version is a very popular hot rod choice, either as a donor car or as a fiberglass model.
The car started production in 1937 with somewhat traditional styling, a product of the internal reorganization that turned Willys-Overland Motor Company into Willys Overland Motors. It was itself an evolution of the aging Willys 77. When Joseph W. Frazer joined the company in 1938 he decided that a modern-looking and cheap compact car was the answer for the struggling Willys. Models 37, 38 and 39 gradually evolved into a more Ford-like appearance, culminating in the very much DeLuxe-like '40 model.

I cant say i like this car. Have a feeling I am sitting on the ground trying to reach the steering wheel. But I like the color, because I had a wonderfand very beloved little Suzuki Wagon R in the same color. I miss it terribly. They dont make them anymore. So I envy everyone who still have theirs.
(Why I couldnt sleep on the Rhine boat, is simply because I can only sleep in my own bed :-P The motor didnt bother at all, it was like a cat purring)

a big grand beached whale of a car, with that low front end, and the feeling of a big tank coming at you (from the front). Your top shot captures all that, plus the cartoon-like face of the beast; while the lower shot shows us the bear-like contours, and that wonderful single side-window, and terrific interwoven paint job on the side. I imagine you'd like to have this all by itself, with nothing else around it to detract; it's one of the most unusual cars I've ever seen; and you always capture it's hibernating bear feeling, along with its beautiful contours and sheen. If I had one of these, I'd want to drive it everywhere (assuming the engine was brought to modern standards). And what in the world is that silver thing on the hood??? I hope I'm not showing terrible ignorance, but I've never seen that before! Is it a horn? A megaphone? (Don't tell me it's a gun!) I can't imagine what that thing does! Beautiful beast and captures.
