The birds had trapped Nyra inside a whirlwind of feathers and noise, she couldn't leave the square but so far they had not tried to attack her. She told herself, "I must be calm and listen to them, they must want something." When Nyra was quiet she could often sense the emotions of the animals around her. Standing still she closed her eyes and started to clear her mind. She first sensed Spirit, he was excited and a little scared but he was safe. Relieved that Spirit was not in any danger she started reaching further out with her mind and she became part of the whirlwind. The world was spinning around her and the emotions from all the birds was overwhelming, Nyra got scared and pulled herself back. "Too many," she thought, I can't understand them" Nyra shook her head and tried again. Slowly the disorientation was replaced with comprehension and she could hear the birds saying, "Stay, don't flee like the others. Stay, our King is above, he wants to warn you!" Nyra looked up, high above and spiraling down was a raven. The other birds started spreading as the raven descended and Nyra could see it was larger. The raven was also distinguished with reddish tones in its black plumage. Then she saw it was wearing a beautifully crafted collar made of gold, Nyra had never seen such a creature before. She was in awe and whispered, "By all my ancestors! They called him their King, he must be from an ancient royal blood line, a Raven King!" ---------- I hope you enjoy this continuation.
