Description
I've spent the past few days working on this. It took a lot of tweaking of the textures to get the results I wanted -- and I spent more time than intended doing the clean-up, but here it is: My first-ever completed comic book page using Manga Studio 5. I'd used Manga Studio in the past for single illustrations, but this is the first time I've used it to create a full, multi-panel page. There was a bit of a learning curve, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
This is the second page of a planned 5-page story. Finished page size is 5.5 x 8.5 (it will appear in some future issue of the Collector's Club Newsletter, which is a comics fanzine). If I were doing a traditional comic size, I would have used a three-tier layout. As with the other art I've posted lately, this was created using the Comic Book Preview in Poser 11. I did two passes of each image: one for the dark shadows and a second for the gray shadows. Both passes were brought into MS5 and there I cleaned them up, did some additional inking, and (of course) applied the panel layout and lettering.
I think I'm getting the hang of this high-contrast look I'm experimenting with. I'm really hoping to pick up speed with the rest of the pages I'm working on. BTW: Final page is 1200 pixels for print, so this image is scaled to 50%.
Figures: V4 with a little of the Girl 4 mixed in, and the LoRez Masked Hero by Predatron.

Thank you very much! I'm about halfway through the next page (which is actually page 1 of the story). I've been struggling with the layout and text on it, which is why it's been so long between posts. I finally resolved the layout problem I was having by splitting the page into two pages. I didn't really want to increase the page count, but cramming it all on one page just wasn't working. I hope to have it up by the weekend.

First let me say, you did a marvellous job with these characters and I am looking forward to seeing more...
...unfortunately I don't know as much of the technicalities, as mentioned above, as I am more into photography but that has never stopped me from appreciating another artists point of view, having said that, I am somehow and a bit familiar with some of the programmes you used, as my son Jeff (here at Renderosity known as: jif3d) does animations etc. - BTW - I love the B&W image, it adds to the mystery and also reminds me of that movie: 'Sin City' - well done !

Thanks for the compliments.

Sorry for the short reply yesterday. I was out walking the dog and was using my phone to reply. Thanks very much the kind words, and noticing the Sin City influences in my work. Frank Miller really defined that look in his comics (which I pulled and started rereading last month, after I started on this project). Dang, that guys is good... And thanks for complimenting the b&w. I like working in black and white for a lot of reasons -- one of them is that it evokes a classic look that I really enjoy.
And when I get a chance, I'll swing by your son's gallery and take a look.

Neat polished result, all your work has paid off and you have captured that Sin city feel...minus 1 selective colour, but maybe you are saving that effect for the next page of panels ? either way, well done.
~Cheers~

I thought about going with another color, but decided to keep it all b&w. It will be cheaper to print that way! Plus... I kinda like the "purist" look of b&w. Thanks for the kind words on this, and my other posts.
