Description

Just visited my ophthalmologist today and learned that the cataracts are very aggressive in both eyes, the right eye being the worst. So next month I get to have cataract surgery on the right eye then three weeks later the one eye that is left. Now the good news: in month and a half, I will have wonderful vision and not have to squint to read signs. Now the bad news: I will then be able to see the political signs..... :-{ I scoured the internet to find the appropriate eye to display. I found the one I really like.

I have a friend who had to have that surgery in his 40's, but he has excellent vision now. Mine are the slow growing variety so I have a few years to go. Best wishes for the surgery and maybe you can use it for an excuse not to watch/look at the political ads. This is an awesome eye!

I too have had this surgery on both eyes about three years ago. Great results! Now, I always like to be a little different so I had one eye fitted with a lens for distance and the other eye with a lens for up close. The brain is an amazing thing...it adjust for this difference and I can go without glasses if I need/want to do so. This might not suit everybody but it works for me. Now about glasses...yes I do wear them to reduce eye strain, particularly if I am going to read for a long time.

This visionary piece of artwork should set you in the proper mood before surgery, I am confident you'll see better after being operated.

Yes, let operate your eyes. My husband also had a strong cataracts and could almost not see properly. After surgery, he can see who comes to visit the day before tomorrow. LOL I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Oh ! I understand your fear of surgery ! It is well expressed in your image ! I've read that cataract surgery is now a very simple affair ! Good luck !

I'm sorry I'm late on this, I saw it when it went up, but it took me a few days to leave a comment. I want to wish you everything in the world for your 2 surgeries, and hope that you'll have a clean and beautiful view when they're over. Bill's experience (bmac) is typical of everyone I've known too, incl my sister: They've been very successful operations. Sorry you have to deal with this so soon after your loss, but the up side is that you'll see really well, afterwards, which would make your father beam.

I hope the recovery is fast and without discomfort. And btw, I love your visual: I assume you mixed the internet shot with something of yours, and you postworked it---it's terrific. I love the red splotches and the halloween-like creepy dark stuff on the eye's left. And a cat's eye too. Terrific, playful job (assuming you worked on it---it sure seems like one of your works!)

Finally, congratulations on getting "member of the month". Some terrific people have gotten that, and when I saw you got it, I thought, you're just the person who should get it because of your spirit here, all the people you support, and your constant wonderful play and exploration as an artist. And it's nice to accompany you into surgery. Congratulations, Mike, and all my best to you for the coming month!

WOW, what a great shot, Mike. I wish you every success for the operations, as far as I know, it will be a short-term intervention. Anyway, you are in my prayers and my thoughts. Haha, I love your humor, reading the signs, but unfortunately, you'll have to be now "a gentleman in traffic," as they say in the Netherlands. Oh, sorry, I read it wrong, you mean politics, because that subject, I can imagine anything. 😱
