I like this one best, although the other is quite good. This one shows the hole in the boat as you pointed out a lot better, and in my thoughts/opinion this is the total point of the your title. In the other version the "hole" is not so noticed but looks to be only a shadow maybe on the boats hull. Good job on both versions! :)
