Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a wonderful piece of your childhood. I agree that children today have no sense of real togetherness.
Everything has to be bigger, brighter and above all, computerized.
As for the picture, I like it this way. Simple portrayal of a much simpler childhood.

I was never a scout - I always kind of identified with Groucho Marx's famous saying - "I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members." But I've always appreciated good times spent with friends, so I can agree with you about that. Time spent in front of screens of various kinds has replaced some of that, but hopefully some kind of balance will be achieved. After all, you spent time in front of a screen posting this & I am now spending time in front of one looking, reading & responding...

This is a treasure, not least of which because it documents a world that no longer exists. I read somewhere that future generations will have no memories they can hold in their hands because everything is now 'on-line'. That's progress I guess.

A great memory piece. I must agree with wysiwig. I've always enjoyed old boxes of family photos. Will our grandchildren ever say, "Hey Dad, let's get out grandma's old hard drive and look at her old photos again"?
