Description
English translation (approximately) of latin title: of This is the time f great fear.
1989, fall ot the Berlin's wall. 1991, dissolution of Soviet Union. The Cold War ended! A new era of peace and prosperity began... or not? Is it only impression of mine or something gone wrong? The younger generations, born after that age, cannot understand and they join this world as it is, as ordinary and normal. Unfortunately many promises have been betrayed. The new era of peace and prosperity never arrived. Ironically, as often happens in history, the new era is, as possible, much worse and more dangerous than the previous.
A friend of mine, who is a physicist, told me the the one represented in the image above is a thermonuclear (hydogen bomb or H-Bomb) explosion. Probably it is one of the image of the Tsar Bomb, the Western nickname for the Soviet RDS-220 hydrogen bomb, the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated, tested on October 30, 1961. Estimated over 50 megatons yeld (over 3,000 times Hiroshima's A-Bomb); remains the most powerful man-made explosion known in human history (for more details see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsar_Bomba).
I'm not interested in strategic issues and nuclear weapons themselves. The main issue is another: the crazy world of Cold War was, after all, safest than the world of today. Ironic... isn't it? My friend physist, who knows many things behind the scenes, told me that the thermonuclear global war would never occurred (and this is a fact!), because in those days there was real fear. Alcohol, drugs and more there were too, but not like today, in ALL areas and levels of society. At the time, the fear and a little common sense prevented the catastrophe, but today who can guarantee?
You can really believe in leaders today? Politicians who change their minds (and political direction) at any time. And they are often unable to solve problems, rather they creates more ... but what we elect them to do?
Financial speculators who flaunt omnipotence and invincibility, playing (because this is the real term to use) on financial markets destroying the real economy (on this regard I recommend you read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-frequency_trading). All this permitted by international institutions that none of us has elected. Why do we let him go?
Democracy? What democracy? We vote but then another is decided and did it anyway. And there is always a justification for this (economic crisis, terrorism, etc.). Faces changing but oligarchies are always there, ever richer and everyone else poorer. Someone once said, in the world there are resources for all but not for everyone's greed.
During the Cold War there were international rules, questionable if you want, but at least they were clear and not continuously changing. Today the nations leave projects and historical paths, difficult but progressive, in favor of falsely patriotic opportunism. Everyone wants to do as they like. It is convenient to leave the trouble to others after creating them with foolish choices.
Human being has personal and global limitations. I found reasonable to try to overcome our limitations. Otherwise I think is insane to overcome natural limit. Is it acceptable that so many people want to take the role of God? I don't think so!
The megalomania, sense of invincibility and omnipotence of many peoples is really dangerous, today more than the past days. During the Cold War the possibility that there was a real nuclear war was quite low. I repeat: fear and common sense have always prevailed. We would not be here talking about, otherwise. Today the story is another. Today no one can guarantee anything. They have lost credibility and authority. So many words, but also a lot of manifest inability ... or maybe I have to think of a crime will? People who hold our lives are stupid or criminals?
The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse.
All of us have, intentionally or not, participated in this madness. We have degraded the world we live in and we are destroying what little civilization we had hardly built.
And yet we can not stop us. What I've shown in Figure I thought I left behind, instead today I see it in front of our path. Is it the goal of mad rush our contemporary society?
What will we leave to our children? Our grandchildren will never come into the world? And what world?
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
Please, continue to do nothing. Our children will thank us!

The future is dark for sure and we almost think back of the Cold War as "The Good Time" ! Great concept.
romangirl
As always, a brilliant creation with a remarkable look at the world we live in.

A most incredible message and strikingly alarming image this time, Mondwin! You are always at the heart of the worlds problems! I believe you have your hand on the pulse of destiny! This image should be broadcast worldwide as well as the message! Excellent work on this one! Bravo and many fine kudos!
Drakkendark
Very cool.

I love the symbolism of what you rendered. And your words are thoughtful and real. Yes, this is getting crazier by the minute and yet I hold out hope. Those with good hearts exist in the many. Those born of evil present real problems for this only planet the masses have to call home. Still I want to believe that good will ultimately win over evil. Call it religious belief, call it hope. Never stop fighting. We as artists can make a small difference. Let our works talk of love, sharing and humanities better sides. Also let our works paint evil for what it is.

We live in troubled times and the future does not look so bright. Why can not people live peacefully together? I think, there are too much power-hungry politicans in the world. A wonderful and profound image you have created!!

This really is a masterpiece, and such interesting to me, my friend. Due to my facial pain, I couldn't read all of your text, I'm sorry for that. Peace is complicated, huh?

Basically speaking , most of us are all carrying some sort of guilt, by following like 'sheeple' (sheep & people)... good education is what is needed, to be a good example, not to destroy the rest of our little blue planet ! GREED IS NOT GOOD ...

Great and scary imagery. I understand what you say too. I'd like to offer an additional perspective too. In the cold war days, there was nothing like the social media and capture that we have today. I don't really know how much safer we were back then, or just how much more ignorant. There were more kidnappings and terrorist attacks then, believe it or not. Gun violence has actually decreased. No I'm not a gun advocate, just citing recent polls and facts.
Cell phones, internet, tweets and instagrams has made the world smaller and news more intimate and immediate. While this can be annoying and pointless (Kardashian updates) bringing foreign conflict up close and personal can be scary, but educate people to what's going on in the world like never before. In the best case scenario, I would hope that such immediacy and intimacy will help bring people to a more peaceful place. Likely there is going to be a long road filled with conflict and disagreement along the way, but maybe in the long run people will see how leaders like Putin, Assad, Erdogan, etc and countries ruled by religion are a thing of the past.
This year in the US it is the saddest year for presidential choices. We can pick a questionable staus quo insider or an insane, ill tempered and racist money grubber. I was hoping for the first woman president to have much less baggage or maybe the first apolitical outsider to be educated and have real plans. I guess not this time around.
All that said, I have hope in the long term and that education and common sense will eventually prevail. Until then, your image is a stark reminder that we are still pretty deep in the woods.

very power image and words to go with it. only the Lord Jesus is holding things back for now.

Compelling scene on the power struggle to control and the everyday struggle to survive!!! This is a chaotic and destructive universe - humans can choose not destroy themselves but it is certain the universe will, one day. Superb post!!!

Awesome render! Lots of energy, Dynamic and static counterpoint in the struggle from chaos to order . . . We live in dangerous times. The sociopaths hands of doom lurk over every citizen of the world designed for love, peace and kindness.
