Description

Part of a work in progress- my latest animation project- a return to an old Doctor Who serial- The Evil of the Daleks. This was a seven part serial written by David Whittaker and originally broadcast in 1967. All of the episodes bar one were wiped from the archives by the BBC as was policy at that time. What survives is one episode, a series of photographs (telesnaps) and the audio- from fan recordings. Much of the story takes place in Victorian England and Miss Waterfield is the hapless daughter of Edward Waterfield, who is taken prisoner by the Daleks when time travel experiments go wrong. Victoria was played by Deborah Watling and went onto become a regular companion to the Doctor after she is rescued from the Daleks. I have been working on some more animated reconstructions of the long lost Who story. Like all animation it takes an age, but I am hoping to get enough material for a short film- a scene from Episode 4. This was originally filmed in Grims Dyke- a neo-gothic mansion house in Middlesex which at one point was the home of William Gilbert (of Gilbert and Sullivan, natch!) http://www.doctorwholocations.net/locations/grimsdykehotel In this scene Victoria is ordered onto the Minstrel Gallery for inspection by her captors. I wanted to convey her fear and resignation. Do you think I have succeeded?

I am so sorry it has been this long since I commented. Perhaps as long as a the month of August. Life has gotten in the way of Art. I will now love going through your gallery to see what I have missed.

Be well and be happy. Peace....Dag

I love the gothic look to this moment. Very haunting. Doctor Who often played on gothic themes and re-imagined into a rational world. This never took away from the creepiness or horror in my opinion. Well done.
