Description
Hawker Demon, taken at Shuttleworth and this is the only one flying.. In fact the only complete example left.. At the moment!
It lives at the collection at at the field, and is marked in No 64 Squadron RAF colours.. It was built in 1937 and went on to serve until into the war.. (No 9 Bombing & Gunnery School (RAF Penrhos). It was used as a ground training aid and was finally struck off in 1943!
Squadron often had 'loud' marking on the wings and bodies during the 1930's.. This did make a return of sorts during the 1960's as the Red Tailed Lightnings showed.
Taken from the ground and using Akvis.

Great capture

Gorgeous! I love those pre-war Hawkers. There's just something magical about those shiny, silver biplanes.

Beautiful shot. You seem to have a knack for getting just the right angle for each type of plane in your photos. Looks like the pilot has either lost his passenger, or forgotten him on the ground! Makes for some fun speculation about where the bloke's vanished to. Keep up the good work! :-)

All the Hawker 1930s bipes are such elegant aircraft. Another calendar shot, Rob.

I am always amazed at what has been saved from destruction for so long.
