Description
Marketing creeps in the desire to look beautiful using the models proposed to sell its products. This fact makes you unhappy because your beauty is unique and unrepeatable and it not allows you to have conscience of this aspect.

The expression on her face says it all: beauty is in the eye of the beholder and in this modern age, we've all be taught how to blind ourselves. I don't hate advertising, but I find that advertising has been placed in the hands of small, stupid people, and that we've allowed ourselves to listen to what they think they have to say. This image captures that perfectly! The products are perfect, so much a part of her! This is brilliantly done and brilliantly conceived, but my favorite part is how unhappy she looks, despite the fact that all of these products are supposed to make her "happy."

I like Chipka's comment. And I love this image! I had to do advertising, years ago, to make a living. (It's HARD to earn money with one's art!) And I remember the big advertisers---the 'bigwig's' (pezzo grosso): They were obsessed with product, product, product, and money, money, money. They BECAME their ads. They breathed-in their ads. They consumed their ads, like hungry animals. Ugh. "Mi fai impazzire"---I wanted to scream that to the whole industry. (I hope I have the right expression!) They were "overtaken" by their work. They actually believed that their ads were the Truth. It was madness...
I love what you did with this. A woman---with no hair---who's hair has been taken over by product, product, product. And she's oppressed and sad, almost resigned, realizing she can't escape it anymore. I love the boldness of the products, and the colors---you got the eye-popping, eye-assaulting feeling of advertising. And she's standing (or lying) against a background of geometric pieces---it's almost like stained glass, only it's made of stone or wood. She looks like someone wired for a grotesque experiment: With electrodes and electric generators and computerized parts, stuck in her head. Only, these parts are shampoo, shaving foam, lipstick, toothpaste, etc. Great job, Giuliano. It's funny and sad, and wonderfully rendered. That poor woman: She can't escape.
