Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Glad you stopped! I remember that drive well. The road winds around so much, and with all the trees, by the time we got to Fort Bragg I was a little queasy!
It was good to talk to you the other day. :) Miss you, girl!

I remember a whole series of shots, from you, of dilapidated houses---several near the water---which you shot over time, until there was nothing left but beams, wires and dust. Some of them collapsed, like, the week after you shot them; and I thought: Holy s___, I'm glad she's alive! I can't figure out where you are in this shot, because the house goes down below ground level; so you must be on a ridge of some sort. And the mailbox is on the roof! (Anyone tell the owner, "not a great place for a mailbox, dude". Your crop puts this dilapidated beauty right in the center of everything, and it dominates the shot. And the wood seems to be fanning out into oblivion on the far right. Beautifully seen and composed---and it's quite dramatic too. You get very exciting shots of places most people wouldn't even spend time at...
