Description

Several folk commented that it is very difficult to get rid of lodgers in their countries, but they probably meant tenants. Lodgers live in the house of the landylady/andlord, and have NO rights of tenancy at all in England. In theory I could put all their stuff out on the street without notice, but in practice on the rare occasions it has been necessary to get rid of someone I give about 14 days notice. If they rented rooms in a property which I owned but in which I did not live myself, things would be very different. The joy of student lodgers is that by their very nature they are in transit, and will nearly always be keen to move on after graduation. I have had 83 lodgers so far, and every one has a story. These are three of my rooms which unusually are empty this week, as term starts next week. The fourth room has an occupant who has been here nearly 20 years!

Your rooms appear cozy and comfortable, the students are very fortunate to live in such a clean environment. Wow 20 years is a long time, for you to have this one person rent from you Andrea. Hopefully by now you have become friends as well. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful rooms! I can see this as one reason why the one would continue to stay.

Very nice rooms. Anyone would be happy here. I guess the term in America would be renters. We usually have a signed lease, but the terms are quite difficult to enforce should the renter decided to not pay or to trash the property. I do believe the student lodgers would be a different type.
If I ever get to your part of the world, I shall take a class or two and rent a room! (No raccoons allowed?)

Very pleasurable digs for sure. If I were a student, I'd be thrilled to have such a room. And I'd remember to leave the garlic at home:-)

I would sign up for one of those rooms in a heartbeat, and then I'd never go to class! I'd just sit there watching the light change. What lovely rooms they all are!
