"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

if it weren't for the blue sky, I'd swear you took this on the moon.
Great capture

Don't know about the moon, but it does have an alien planet look about it - I can easily see Luke Skywalker zipping across this terrain in a landspeeder. Fantastic shot, Bill...

Funny Claude should mention Luke Skywalker ... Trent responded to my text earlier and said he was waiting for the Star Wars characters to show up. :P

Moon or Mars. The sedimentary rocks give it away. A spectacular image and a great pano.

This does look otherworldly; you caught a HUGE landscape. What an amazing area!!

A fantastic view and a bit scary too :-)

Breathtaking! I agree with Helle, a little intimidating!

Yeah, I think I see Rey and BB8 in the distance..... :-D
A spectacular shot of a spectacular place, Bill! I think I stood on the same point last year! LOL
I would pay good money to put the Inspire in the air here - but unfortunately you can't fly a drone in National Parks. Bummer.

I'm not the first to notice this, but this definitely has a Tattooine vibe to it: luckily you didn't encounter any Tusken raiders, nor did you apparently report any Jawas attempting to...um...appropriate any of your mechanical/electronic equipment for re-purposing and resale. Jawas! Anyway...enough with the Star Wars references; this is a fantastic shot! I love the pano on full zoom...such great details. The light is perfect and yeah, it's otherworldly. This is heady-good stuff!

Great capture. really shows the vast expense of the American West and early morning shots or late afternoon shots bring the relief out!.

Gorgeous shot...

I would do anything (anything) to go out into the wilderness, see a huge sweeping landscape (like this) with no one around, not a sign of life, and a tiny plaque next to a ledge that says, "please zoom". I did zoom this, and it's breathtaking and beautiful. Fine balance between blue shadow on the left and bleaching light on the right. And you got flat land behind it---I know there's plenty of flat land around this area---which gives more layering. And a hazy almost sleepy light and sky in the background. A big beautiful sweep of a shot, where we can see the extraordinary detail in the rock---the striations of age. And an oasis on the right that's right out of the moon. Not that I've been to the moon, but it's how I'd imagine it to be. Wonderful work, Bill. A real Bill shot, through and through.
