Hailey sees some familiarity in the photograph but doesn’t know what to make of it. Losing her parents at such a young age and brought up by a maiden aunt, she never saw the family photos that are so much a part of a normal childhood. Then she got hints of family connections from the cousins, but they all seem strange to her. On the other hand why does the old mansion seem so familiar at times. And that moment in the nursery… And the warning about the cousins, she doesn’t particularly like them. Cousin Nevil is good looking in a superficial kind of way. The way cousin Elenoir natters on is so annoying. The two seem more silly than dangerous, but it was sort of creepy the way Elenoir grasped her throat last evening while giving her the shoulder rub.
