Maria looked out on the balcony, to the square below, as a gentle autumn breeze kissed her face. As she gazed down, to the delight of the warm-colored ivy caressing the walls, a loud noise came from the room. Somewhat surprised, she when back inside.
"Is that you Carlos?" she spoke curiously as she stepped inside and suddenly froze as her eyes came upon an husky sized man, dressed in black and holding a grey duffle bag in his hands.
"Hello ma'am. I am here on the behest of Mr. Carlos. It is no longer safe for you to stay here." the man said while tossing the bag on the bed. "Use this bag and pack light. Leave your jewelry and phone behind."
"What is going on and where is Carlos?" Maria shouted while moving toward the bed. "He was working with us but we were compromised. We assured him that if everything went south we would protect you." he responded promptly while pulling out a phone. "Please hurry, we're running out of time!"
Maria scurried quickly about the room, stuffing the bag full of personal items as the man placed the phone to his ear.
"I have her. Tell Coulson that we are heading back to the bus." A few moments pass as the man stepped to the balcony door. "Copy that. I will let her know." he responded calmly as he hung up the phone. He then turned to Maria.
"Mr. Carlos is on the bus but there was a situation with him..."
"What situation?"
"It will be best if I explained it on the way ..."
"Please tell me what is going on..." she shouted as another person burst into the room.
"We have to go now Mack. Gunners are moving in fast!"; "Got it. Let's go." Mack replied while taking a position behind Maria. "Lead the way Melinda" he spoke as they rushed out of the room.
Wonderful work as always Simone. Your artwork always inspires me to write stories on the fly.
