Description

There is a legend of a young nun, forced by her father into the nunnery to keep her from her love, that sold her soul to Satan. She became a vampire, and for centuries has haunted the ruins of the old church, the bones of her victims piled near her resting place. This image took some time trying to get the proper lighting. The setting, -AppleJack-'s Abandoned Church, was a perfect inspiration. The texture, the open floor plan, the wonderful window, certainly called out for shafts of moonlight.

The bones not so much, but the god-rays took a day. The image is a composite of two images, of the main lights. The one lighting the bones is to the left, and on my old machine took about 10 hours. The light through the window has atmospherics in the scene, and took about 25 hours. I still had to despeckle it.

The bones on the floor are rendered 3D objects? They look quite photographic!

Yes, completely 3D. I got very lucky with the lighting I think :) They are a daz studio Them Bones prop, but only two or three meshes, but replicated with the UltraScatter instancing thing. The lighting is a gradient and when I hit that particular combo of tones and placement I knew I had something.
