You should give the laserbeam some transparacy it looks more like a broomstick. Use more polys on the round parts, they look a bit edgy(I do the same mistake often lol) Less toyish textures on the U.F.O would help too. Explosion is well done ..Have you used the fireballplugin of openFX ?

Yeah I used that plugin. Didn't change the settings of that one. Hmmm, transparancy on beam...good suggestion. I just wanted to try making the beam as (part of) the model, because I know OpenFX has some plugin for laserbeams too, but I've never been very succesful with it. Besides, it has a habit of being a bit "chunky".
