Dorian turned away from the magister's looming mansion and, with a flick of his wrist, ignited the mana he had released into the opulent house. Purple fire exploded out of every entrance and window, sheer pressure cracking the walls of the ancient home and sending debris flying, but he had chosen his spell wisely, only those within would be hurt, and the risk of casualties was nonexistent. The evening shadows were briefly chased away by the moment of blinding light, but they raced back as the mana extinguished and the flames crackled down, mellowly snapping in the stunned silence of the city. Only a second or two passed before cries could be heard echoing through the streets, doors could be heard as they were flung open, and firealarm bells began frantically peeling, calling for any and all to give attention. Not one to dawdle, Dorian retreated into the night, smiling and whispering to himself, "Well, that's one less Venatori."
