Description
Hi There =) !
Thank you for the wonderful wonderful comments and favs and likes on my renders.
This was another huge piece of land Miho had bought to protect its beauty. We had setup the drones to map the area and had found this mysterious few hundred year old gazebo in the middle of a lake surrounded by hills. It was mysterious as there was no known occupation of this area by any kings of the past. Maybe one of them had created this as a secret gateway as it was exceptionally peaceful here and the water was crystal clear. The gazebo was a bit run down and Miho had spent some time there with her team getting it restored a bit. During that time she had found this eagle that had injured its wings and Miho had nursed it back to heath.
All this was months ago. But now we were back there to run another scan of the entire area with some upgraded equipment that Miho had created. This was our last day there. All the work was done and the data gathered of what lay beneath the land. We decided to go and spend some time relaxing in the gazebo at the lake. We had to take a row boat from the shore to the gazebo. It looked beautiful and so peaceful. Once we got there I let Miho get off and told her I wanted to take some photos before I got off to. Miho sat down on the steps and poured herself some coffee while I rowed around and took photos. Finally I had made a complete circle and was back where Miho was sitting. So I decided to take some photos of her too. As I snapped the eagle she had nursed to health flew in and landed besides Miho. Miho's bond with animals and birds was again apparent. I also noticed fishes swimming around were Miho had put her feet into the water. I was happy that I managed to capture it. Miho was looking radiant and happy. She did like this place. We spent couple of hours there chit chatting and relaxing. The eagle stayed with us throughout that time. Finally we rowed back and got into the Ranger and headed to where the plane was to fly back to one of her research bases. The eagle flew by us as if to say goodbye....
About this render:
I started this scene in a different way. Instead of a pose that led to the idea of a scene, this time I looked at my content library to see what all environmental / architectural props I had. I came across this gazebo prop. Loaded it and saw it had a separate base so loaded it too. Initially the gazebo was near the camera and Miho in it. I turned it around so that it was in the background and Miho out on the other side of the structure. As the base had steps, I decided to do a seated pose. After placing Miho on the steps, I next loaded the water prop. The scene looked really nice but the water body was looking like an ocean as there was nothing to enclose it. Then I loaded a hill prop that I have used before and it made the water body look like a nice lake. The test render looked good. As Miho's feet was in the water thought of adding some fishes around her feet. Unfortunately this was the only small fish I had in my content library. So loaded a couple of them. The scene looked even better. While looking for the fish, I had also noticed an eagle that I had never used. So added that to and posed it as though it was landing next to Miho. And as Miho's feet were in the water, that meant needed some shoes to be there that she had taken off. So loaded a pair of shoes. Finally added a small flask.
On the gazebo base steps I have used a Octane wet concrete material. The tiles are original textures but I modified the shader nodes to bring out the colors a bit more. I did recolor the gazebo and parts of its dome and added a Octane metal material to the flask. Also slightly tweaked the eagle texture. The water material is my own custom material.
I did learn a new thing while doing this render. The curve you see in the steps is actually an Octane "Spherical distortion" setting that is there for the camera which I had never noticed before. Turning it to the max gave me the nice fish eye kind of effect. The camera was set to wide angle. Another thing I was trying to do but failed was to get a caustic effect from the water like you see in a swimming pool. I set the settings as per what I had read in the Octane forum but did not get any caustic effects. So will have to do some RnD and explore it a bit more to see how to get that effect.
There is slight noise at the gazebo but I stopped the render. It had run for 12 hour +. Actually the long running time was to get the caustic effect which never showed.
Hope you all like the render !
Rendered in Daz Studio using the Octane Plugin. No post work done. Do zoom in to see details.

Wonderful and a little surreal looking - beautiful render!!! I haven't tried caustics but the manual says must use PMC kernel for best effects.

I try not to be critical which means I'm going to be. I really like the image but can't stand the eagle. It just doesn't belong. Just my opinion not that its worth all that much.
