I like this. My commment is about the diffuse ceiling light casting shadows. Would this normally happen?

I like the control room design, nice and clean. Love the images on the screens, pretty cool.

if i understand klah's question: since the ceiling light is in fact a hanging fixture and not a recessed alcove (impossible to tell from this angle, i know), it supplies direct light and not bounced light to the objects beneath, so the shadows are appropriate.

Terrific set! Screen images are very cool, lighting is great, but IMHO a bit too bright for a room where the function is to get information off the screens (then assess and disseminate). Perhaps a bit dimmer with more luminosity from the screens? Chairs are well modeled, I like how you've differentiated between the highbacked ones in center and the midback chairs along the perimeter consoles. Tables could use a bit of a round edge... that edge is murder on the forearm after a while. I have a lot of respect for the thought and skill that went into creating this. :o) - M

thanx for all the kudos. if the image seems excessively bright it may be because it was rendered on a mac (if i remember correctly, mac monitor gamma settings usually make images brighter on pc monitors). also, in order to reduce the render time, i reduced the luminostiy of all the display panels to 80% which takes them out of the radiosity calculations. to compensate, i increased the radiosity intensity level. this would make the image brighter. lastly, i was just looking over my shadow color settings, which were set to a dark gray and not black. at some point i'll do another render. actually, the outer edges of the central table, facing the chairs, do have a wide sloping bevel (not rounded, but not squared off) that's not really visible in this image. long gone are the days when i actually waited 1 full week for an image to render. i just don't have the same level of patience. this image took 12 hours to render.
