Description
on the other side of the valley is Kiamichi Mountains
I discovered more problems on my kitchen walls. at the door opening instead of using one sheet of drywall to cover the exposed wall studs, they used two pieces.
the metal corners has nothing to nail to on the wall sides. after I get the kitchen repainted I am going to make a decision about removing the drywall pieces and replace correctly.
builders keep the sub-contractors down to hardly enough to survive on so they cut "corners" where ever they can. it is not only on less expensive homes like mine, but on million dollar homes I used to work on. more than once homeowners paid me to correct builder's mistakes. at least once the builder paid me to fix their crap.
once I was going to fix a window(recent construction)(million dollar home), to prevent leaking. it was facing the driveway which slanted down to the alley. I had a pickup at the time so I placed a 28 feet ladder in the back of my bed in order to reach the window. when I got up half way the ladder stated moving. I realized that the builder failed to put enough studs in the wall. I went ahead and finished, but was so dang glad to get off the ladder.
the home owner was so mad when I told him about there not being enough studs in the wall. I was thinking he was going to unload the house as soon as possible

Great vista you've captured. from your story, it sounds like that the phrase, "Buy American!" needs to have a caveat.

Awesome shot over the treetops! You know what I thought of as soon as I saw this? Little Round Top on The Gettysburg Battlefield.
That's weird with the drywall. Seems like the wall would be out of flush with only two pieces in that one spot? I don't know. All the old houses here have lath plaster walls. It's like concrete.

Amazing view of the beautiful trees and mix of fall colors.
Good thing you are a carpenter Richard, your story is a tad scary for us that don't know what's going on behind our backs.

It seems like every house we have lived in was built differently. ....and there seems to be no plumber in this world who thinks the plumber before him did the job right. sigh Beautiful color in this!

your are right about builders. I was reroofing my son's house and when I took off the old shingles there was a two foot hole where they did not put plywood down. that is why it was leaking. DUH!! great image.

A very lovely shot, Richard!
Indeed, everything in this country is all about the buck anymore. Cut corners, use the cheapest possible materials, and negotiate the subcontractors down to bare minimum. And they wonder why we're getting our butt kicked in the world marketplace by countries like China.
