Description

Our son & his family have over a dozen chickens on their farm & they all have names, though I can't keep them straight. They have a very large area to roam around in & are treated very well & in return they provide a generous supply of very tasty eggs. As I approached them to take some photos. I was struck by how beautiful & unique they each were. I've tended to think of chickens as sort of generic domestic birds & as not particularly interesting or noteworthy, but looking at them through the lens of my camera, I got a different perspective. That's one of the things that attracted me to photography - it helps me to look at things more closely & to really see them in all their glory... Please zoom.

This photo says point well made. What a handsome bird.

My first interaction with chickens came as a young boy at my grandfather's house...he would receive a box (with holes) in the springtime full of chicks. From Sears no less. They would provide eggs and eventually meat for the table throughout the summer and into the early fall. How times have changed...he didn't live on a farm...he lived in Queens, NY.
