Ros’ voice is trembling as she continues the story… “Rex asked to see the mug so we went back to the prop box and opened it. As Rex was leaning over to look in I saw Nick pick up the piece of pipe. As he swung it at Rex I tried to stop him, but you can’t stop Nick when he gets mad like that. It was awful when he hit Rex. Rex fell across the open box. It looked like he was already dead. Nick ordered me to help him get the body inside. He was still holding the pipe and I was afraid. So we did it. Nick said we could come back later and dispose of the body. It had to be done fast because you can see the prop box going to and from any of the dressing rooms. Nick went back to his position. It was about ten minutes into act three. I went back to the dressing room. My hands were shaking so hard it was half an hour before I could get back to my sewing. I guess you know the rest. We never heard who found the body. When Nick went back to the theater the police were all around the stage door…” Ros adds that she had enough composure to go back to Nick’s table and retrieve her note before returning to the dressing room. After the police interview Nick said they could still go through with the deal if she retrieve the mug from the prop box. Probably still there even if they searched the box. (Only Emily, Aram and Hailey and the police know that the mug was found!) Now with the crime close to being solved, will the theater company survive some very unwelcome looking publicity? They have lost a director and a stage manager and costume manager will be in police custody. Is there any way the show can go on?
