Description
Emily, the new stage manager, has called the cast on stage for an announcement, the curtain has been delayed fifteen minutes. Why?
“I am on the intercom with the house manager and they have a little problem in the lobby, there is still a long line of people waiting to buy and pick up tickets. And she says it is sort of a party atmosphere, people greeting each other and laughing. They are doing their best to get everyone ticketed and into the auditorium. Now a few words from Aram who you have selected to be your new director.”
It has been a tumultuous couple of days. Ros described the events leading up to finding Rex dead in the prop box. She and Nick are in police custody so the theater is free to go back into operation.
Everyone agreed the Friday performance had to be cancelled in respect to the death backstage, whatever anyone thought of the circumstances. The board was split on whether to cancel Saturday, too. What if nobody came? Then the board was told that nobody with a ticket for Saturday had asked for a refund yet and people with Friday tickets were asking if there would be a Saturday show. Finally someone volunteered to cover the loss if nobody came. With the announcement that the Saturday show would go on, the phones started to ring and the web site started to pick up orders…
There is a saying that even bad publicity is better than no publicity. It turned out that a common response to the news of the crime was ‘hey I didn’t know they were still doing plays there’.
