Description

Here's the next page of the prologue. If you've been following the story for a while you'll start to see some things tying in from earlier chapters. I haven't forgotten the Gecko and his Lizard pals, either! :-D Building and landscape done with Vue 10 Kara is by Pixeluna (Jenny) Thanks to everyone who takes the time to drop by and comment. It's deeply appreciated.

Awesome! I love a great mystery and when all the seemingly loose ends begin to tie together for a bigger plot. Also, when I saw the back of the director's head his voice seemed to take on the tone and inflection of Patrick "Picard" Stewart. Excellent work and your Vue images are super.

I wonder if Arawen is ready to be The Chosen One. It didn't work out so well for Anakin...

Yep - done in Vue 10 Complete. I'll be upgrading to the new version soon... Vue 10 keeps giving me a message that it doesn't wanna play with Win 10..... It still works, though..

well you've left me so many superlative comments, and you've posted so little in that time, I was feeling totally guilty; so decided to leave another TNA comment, to partially balance things out. You posted several things, the end of last year, which I missed, due to my sister's illness. So here I am at (what I think is) the most recent TNA installment that I haven't commented on. Not knowing the whole lead up, I don't know all that preceded this, but you sure set us up for another big set of visitations, capers, confrontations, revelations, etc.

Ok (length time!---can't help it, since I haven't commented on so many of these, I just want to delve into what you do with these): I've noticed that you handle text in your images with real sensitivity to not interfering with the images. In traditional drawn comics, that wasn't a big issue, I assume, because the artist could easily adjust a line or two to fit the text (which often was on top anyway). But in much-more complex images like this, I assume you have to plan more carefully. The top image gives the background in several text blurbs, but I still feel the location and mystery of the building and landscape totally. I'm intrigued by all that shadow on that dark green land. And I also love the over-view of trees, sunlight, the wonderful angle on the building, etc. (And I like your font too, and in green, to match the landscape.) Small points perhaps, but they're the nitty gritty of this art; and why you're so damned good at it.

Ok, the big "Ding!" made me smile, from my days studying sound (Foley), when we fell in love with every manner of ring, plop, crash, kuh-LUMP, etc etc. (Boi-i-i-i-i-i-i-ing!!!!) One sound, and we all know what it is. And your 'ding' is in 'cartoonish' font too! Another small point, but Iove it. Oh, and a really nice job on the HQ exterior too. You know how to do architecture, that I know.

Kara's speech of course sets the 'conflict', the twist that prepares us for the next installments. I love how she sits; she's sexy as all your characters are; you always give consummate attention to dress and its details (Helle told me, "you don't know what goes into dressing models in Poser: That's why I stopped doing it!"); she's serious, as your scene demands---you create a lot of expressions in these pieces; you've lit and detailed her well too. Then there are the backgrounds---recently I spoke with Tara, and said, "do you think Rod ever creates a blank wall? We laughed. She said "I doubt it!" To me, your backgrounds are an Easter Egg Festival: I always peek in there to see what you came up with this time. You got aerial views of cities at night, urban landscapes, and their reflections in the glass...and, as always, you compose your rooms with angles---very few "straight on" compositions. (A mistake of many beginners is to do straight-on compositions, 'cause it's easier.) I love the reflections in the desk too. A helluva a desk.

Then the Director's office (Upp), with that weird, wild lamp thing (I think you have it in other installments), a great headline (who the f. is "Slickie"? a character I missed?), and the bald headed Leader. He reminds me of Carl Reiner in the old Dick Van Dyke show, and I think there was another 'leader' who we only saw from behind. Maybe George Steinbrenner, in Seinfeld? The head of Man from U.N.C.L.E.? (Or Number 1 in The Prisoner???) More of your interesting angles and bits-n-pieces of an office...

And then the bottom frame, where the big revelation comes, with stuff to make us really want to keep going. You packed this one with enticing, magical stuff; mystical stuff. And Keran is dressed to really peak our curiosity: Love that flowered vest, the orb, the luminous green tracery, her head ribbons (??) and her overall semi-fae look. With an apocalyptic sky to drive home the mystery all the more. I also love Upp's thought about goose bumps. (Re Upp, you know the old line? "We've upped our standards: Up yours.") So in 5 frames, you've prepared us for big things to come, and packed in a lot of visual music and delights. OK, this was a lonnnnnng comment, but I haven't commented on enough of these, and you do these with such easeful complexity---those words come together in this series---and with such panache. And of course, finesse and easeful mastery of your art. Terrific, Rod. I understand why you have such a wildly enthusiastic following.

One last thing: Thank you so much for all your comments, enthusiasm and laughter in my gallery. And for your reception of my writing. I've said this to a handful of people at best: The small group of you who have been so kind to my writing have helped me go forward with it, and I'm grateful as can be. Submitting to the market (and applying for grants) is a slowwwwww process, with long waits and low pay. You gotta have the stomach for it. I'm sure you've been through that ringer in your early photography days, etc. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and reception you've given me, and it's really helped me keep at it. One day in the future there has to be a grand meeting, in colorado, Mo, Ks, Seattle, wherever, of a select group of us. I'll bring the Tequila. In the meantime, I'll be back to RR for my next visit probably the end of the month; but I'll be looking in the meantime. Thanks for helping make my return here so terrific. I'm very grateful.
