Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Wow another cool night shot with awesome postwork.
It still looks a bit eerie and a tad scary to be out wandering/ walking around this dark area.
Thanks for being sooooo brave Andrea.

I'm only back, this week, for a few comments in each gallery. I'll do more after the 1st, but having seen everything of yours, it's not easy to choose a few. I loved this because, in the display size, it's a moody night shot, with lone lights and a lot of shadows. It's quite beautiful. When we zoom, however, we see the energy lines that you created (or 'unearthed', a more poetic way of saying it), as that bright yellow light creates tree-rings in the sky and seems to send everything else into pulses and sonar vibrations. The stark standout of those few lights (and street markers or whatever they are) is beautiful. And the edge work creates geological stress lines everywhere. A beautiful treatment. Your area is really beautiful, and you present it to us with an ever changing series of treatments, transformations and portraits.
